Frédéric, 31, is a research assistant at the “Agence Française de Développement”. He tells us about his experience as a volunteer.

“I have been volunteering for Premiers de Cordée for 3 years now. Previously, I had already volunteered, particularly on causes related to disability and sport.

I got to know Premiers de Cordée during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The association was thrown into the spotlight by the donation of bonuses from their sponsor, Kylian Mbappé. On discovering the range of activities the association offered, I wanted to join them. Indeed, I wanted to devote my free time to helping children and wherever possible with a link to sport.

My role in the field is, first of all, to help sports teachers set up the “Sport in Hospitals” activities. Also, I have to make sure everything runs smoothly with the number of children taking part and the space available. Finally, the key to my involvement is to allow the children to have a good time, to escape their illness and to support those who need it most.

This commitment gives me a lot, especially on a human level! A few years ago, I myself had a long hospital stay with re-education and progressive physical activity. So I’m convinced of the positive effects of “Sport in Hospitals”! In my opinion, taking part in sports allows you to flourish and regain self-confidence. Today it is important for me to give back what was given to me at that time. I am always happy to see the children having fun and pushing themselves during the events! ”
